One of the perks of my job is getting to travel to some pretty cool places. When the opportunity to travel to Europe presented itself I decided to throw out a proposal to travel with a male "coworker" before the mtg out there. Now this "coworker" and I had "hung out" some but at no point before the trip was it ever clear what direction our friendship was headed - even though it was clear in my head where I wanted it to go. I just decided not to worry about it and take advantage of the opportunity to travel... well that sounds good, but not easy for Gina to execute when in Italy, drinking wine and together 24/7.
In all honesty it was one of the best trips I've ever been on - until I got several glasses of wine in me and decided to analyze every possible action / lack of action of someone I don't really know. Well it didn't turn out well - basically it resulted in several restless nights with no sleep and some general crabbiness. Now there were several instances that I felt justified in being angry / frustrated (i.e. him wanted to go to bed at 10:30pm, him not remembering that he suggested having dessert on the rocks and then just eating in town, ditching me Friday night in Nice, when all coworkers had left, because he had a sore throat and then never apologizing... but this probably didn't justify me calling him an a**hole 5 minutes before he left on the train to go home, but that is what a little wine will do to a girl!
The most frustrating part of the whole situation is that he still has NO CLUE why I was mad /frustrated at him. I honestly don't even know if he knows I like him sometimes.
So instead of sitting around and continuing to lose sleep and over-analyze a guy who can't figure it out for himself, I've decide to implement the Summer-of-Dating 2009.
Because stupid things / good stories (depending on your perspective I guess) seem to happen to me I've committed myself to document this "experience". I'd like to think its a cross between the Bachelorette, Sex and the City and Bridget Jones diary... but its probably just like Bridget Jones diary... In any case I'm sure it will be entertaining.
